IFE Approved Duties of the Fire Warden

This course has been approved by the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) and has been designed specifically for those personnel that have a designated fire responsibility Fire Warden/Marshall working in industry, commerce or the public sector.

Attendees should wear suitable outdoor clothing if they are to participate in the practical fire fighting exercise. Nylon, plastics etc are not appropriate materials as they may result in injury if subjected to heat extremes. Attendees who have a history of asthma should also advise the course tutor prior to commencement. Assessment:

Course Aims

To provide participants with a greater awareness of the threat posed by fire and the actions to be taken upon the discovery of a fire.

Course Objectives

On completion of the training successful candidates should be able to:

  • Execute their duties as a fire warden / Marshall.
  • Understand the nature of the fire and how it spreads.
  • Distinguish between different types of extinguishers and their correct applications.
  • Tackle small fires with confidence.

Certification

Completion of a multiple choice assessment paper concluding the course.
