CIEH Level 2 Award in Health & Safety
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health *Foundation Health & Safety Certificate* has been designed as a first level course incorporating fundamental occupational health and safety knowledge for all employees that will enable them to contribute to any health and safety management system.
Description
The programme covers a defined syllabus and is assessed by a short objective test consisting of 30 multi-choice questions. Oral tests are available to ensure that candidates with learning difficulties or disabilities can also access the training and achieve success.
Elements of study within the syllabus include the following:
- Health and safety at work
- Prevention of accidents and ill health
- First aid at work
- Workplace health, safety and welfare
- Electricity
- Occupational health
- Ergonomics and workstation design
- Health and safety law
- Risk assessment
- Personal protective equipment
- Work equipment
- Fire prevention
- Hazardous substances
- Manual handling Noise.
For
Employee*s with little or no prior knowledge of current health & safety legislation who require a nationally recognised certificate.

o provide attendees with information on health and safety issues which they will encounter during their working day;
Course Objectives
- To promote a positive health & safety culture;
- To increase awareness of health & safety issues;
- To carryout assigned tasks in both a safe and efficient manner;
- To understand the legal responsibilities of both the employer and employee as defined by the Health & Safety at Work Act.
